Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the ministry’s proposal will allow the government to reap the project’s economic benefits.
“We can start planning now, because the implementation will take five years. It’s already 2017 and we don’t need to wait another 10 years.”
Liow said his ministry would work closely with the Economic Planning Unit, Land Public Transport Commission, the Prime Minister’s Office and other relevant agencies to study the proposal’s feasibility. He did not reveal MRT3’s proposed new completion date.
The MRT3 or MRT Circle Line will be the fifth fully automated and driverless rail system in the Klang Valley area. When completed, it will form a part of the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System.
The MRT lines will be linked to the East Coast Railway Link (ECRL) and the High Speed Rail (HSR). The ECRL and HSR are scheduled for completion in 2024 and 2026, respectively. — ก่อสร้าง+ออนไลน์
