Celebrating 25 Years of BCI

As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our gratitude to our clients, partners and team members who’ve been with us on this exciting journey.

Hit play to check out our journey from 1998 to 2023.

1998 – 2002:

In 1998, BCI embarked on a mission to provide clients with project opportunities and construction data. We came into the industry with the establishment of a project leads service across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, armed with printed and saddle-stitched project information sent via mail.

By 2002, we expanded our services to the Australian market; it was in this pivotal year that the company introduced LeadManager, our first SaaS and flagship product. LeadManager, a real-time database of project opportunities and company insights, set the stage for BCI’s commitment to digitisation and increased transparency.

2003 – 2007:

In 2005, BCI formalised our three core values—Boldness, Commitment and Integrity. We also ventured into the events space, hosting the inaugural 10 Anugerah Teratas in Asia, which has since become one of the most highly coveted industry awards in the region.

The year 2006 saw the establishment of FuturArc, an award-winning magazine focusing on Green architecture and design in Asia. Complementing this publication is FuturArc Prize, the first international Green architecture design competition in Asia open to professionals and students.

2008 – 2012:

As the years progressed, we continued to embrace innovation, launching our first mobile app in 2009. Our services expanded once again in 2011, this time across the Tasman to New Zealand!

2013 – 2017:

In 2014, we diversified our portfolio with the launch of the FairBuilding Network, our CSR division. In the same year, the acquisition of AIS, now recognised as Archify, introduced boutique industry tradeshows to the mix. Construction Plus Asia, first published in 2016, presents B2B insights and updates from the industry across Southeast Asia, and hosts the BCI Interior Design Awards to honour exceptional interior designs.

BCI grew stronger in 2017 with the acquisition of AGM, a New Zealand-based publishing and events company, broadening our reach in the built environment sector. With a focus on the built environment, AGM’s portfolio includes the annual Anugerah Dalaman, the bimonthly Senibina New Zealand magazine dan ArchitectureNow blog.

2018 – 2022:

The digital era brought forth new initiatives, with the launch of Archify in 2018—an online platform for product sourcing and specification. Pendidikan Archify followed shortly after, providing a dedicated space for design professionals to access educational content, including Formal CPD.

The acquisition of BuildCentral in the US in 2019 marked BCI’s presence in our tenth country and third continent of operations. 2020 proved to be another significant year with the launch of Analytix, a historical data exploration tool, and the acquisition of TenderSearch dan eProcure, our tender notification and e-procurement platforms.

In 2021, we joined forces with European industry giant, Byggfakta Group, and rebranded to BCI Central. We celebrated the launch of the next generation of LeadManager in 2022, representing our ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the construction industry.

2023 and Beyond:

BCI’s journey continued in 2023 with the addition of SCL to the BCI family—a specification writing and consultancy service working with over 150 of the largest architectural practices in Australia and abroad.

As we reflect on 25 years of growth, the sentiments are best captured by Robert Krups, Chief Executive Officer at BCI Central:

“We are tremendously proud to be celebrating our 25th year of BCI in 2023! It is the result of our team’s hard work and dedication that we have grown to become the Asia-Pacific region’s leader in construction data and software. We are more focused than ever to create the best solutions for and with our clients to ensure that our sector continues its steady path to digitization and increased transparency.”

With over 20 years at BCI, Nikhil Roy, Chief Technology Officer, is one of our longest standing team members. He said:

“I am often asked why I have worked at BCI for such a long period of time, and my answer is always the same: we never stop innovating. Our vision of regularly upgrading our technologies and adopting new solutions has enabled us to stay current with the latest technology trends. This helps us deliver better solutions to our clients and staff. There’s never a dull moment in IT. We are constantly striving to innovate, not just as a tech team, but as a company as a whole.”

Here’s to the next chapter of pioneering innovation, driving change and transforming the construction industry through data and insights.

Cheers to 25 years!
